About the Exhibit

The Center has 10 exhibition areas. Visitors can learn about the operations of the Interim Storage Facility, the environmental regeneration of Fukushima, the hopes and aspirations of the local residents, and the efforts toward final disposal outside the prefecture.

A video, around 7 minutes long, provides an overview of the environmental regeneration project taking place in Fukushima Prefecture.

Virtual tour(approx. 5 - 15 minutes)

Visitors can take a look inside facilities that are not included in the on-site tours, with highly realistic footage.

Map guide(approx. 8 - 12 minutes)

The maps and data displayed on the screen give you a sense of the progress and scale of the interim storage project.

Environmental regeneration project background(approx. 5 - 10 minutes)

A timeline, along with photos and videos, reflects on the background of the environmental regeneration project to date and the steps taken toward rebuilding Fukushima Prefecture.

Interviews and photos reveal the hopes and aspirations of the people involved in regenerating Fukushima’s environment.

Basic knowledge of radiation(approx. 5 - 8 minutes)

This area offers visitors basic knowledge of radiation and answers frequently asked questions.

Flow and safety measures involved in the environmental regeneration project(approx. 5 - 10 minutes)

Visitors can view actual equipment and model as they learn about the flow of operations to date, from decontamination to transportation to the Interim Storage Facility.

This area explains involved in the efforts toward final disposal outside Fukushima Prefecture.

Hometown sentiments(approx. 8 - 12 minutes)

Residents of Okuma and Futaba share their sentiments toward their hometowns through interviews. The area also features nostalgic photos of the region.

Envisioning the future(approx. 5 - 15 minutes)

This area features visitors’ opinions and introduces the towns of Okuma and Futaba.
